hygge

Hygge has put together a wonderful homeware collection, carefully sourced from many different countries. All goods are inspired by the Danish word that their name bears meaning cosiness, conviviality and general candle-lit good times.

1 ~ what's your name, shop name, and shop location...
Jess Goodall and Sarah Pearson
Hygge {pronounced hooga} , London (or cyberspace!)

2 ~ tell us about some of the objects in your display...
~ Wooden monkey designed in the 1950’s by Danish designer Kay Bojesen – a true design classic.
~ Walnut candlesticks by German designer Sarah Finn
~ Teak and glass oil lamps from Denmark
~ Teak and handmade glass salad bowl from Denmark
~ Felt Slippers made by family run company Glerups in Denmark
~ Tall handmade ceramic vase by Danish Designer Anne Black

3 ~ describe the mood, what inspired you, or what you intended when creating/arranging these pieces...
Whenever we arrange displays we like to make them feel like home. We like to give customers ideas or ‘stories’ to show how products can be used together, or how they can be used in less obvious ways.

4 ~ what are 3 objects/pieces sold in your store that you are dying to have or... you already have and love...
~ I have and love the Swedish Dalahast blanket as a permanent fixture on my old scruffy sofa.
~ I always burn scented candles, usually black tea, fig or cucumber.
~ I’m in love with Eleanor Prichard’s Scallop blankets, but as yet haven’t managed to sneak one home.

5 ~ list three things that provide you with inspiration...
The sea, friends, family.

an extra tidbit...
The Hygge online shop has recently opened! So, their amazing selection of goods can now be yours if you're an admirer from afar.
